Another tale about the Wonderland. Katerina Plotnikova’s photographs in posthuman perspective

Małgorzata Praczyk

Abstract

The article discusses photos made by Russian photographer Katerina Plotnikova in the posthuman perspective. It brings into discussion the question of how strongly the ideas of posthumanism are perceptible in the popular culture represented here by Plotnikovas photos, in terms of redefinition of the human and non-human subjects. Therefore, it poses the question of the pace of interfusing of posthuman reflection into common consciousness. The analyzed photos are interpreted with help of theoretical concepts proposed by Donna Haraway and Rosi Braidotti, who stress the need of overstepping the traditional division between nature and culture resulting in the change of the perception of human and non-human subjects.
