The Vision of Presence and Identity of the Image According to Jean-Luc Nancy

Kamil Lipiński

Abstract

The following examination aims at contributing to the discussion on the global presence of the image in the era of the ongoing globalization. It is assumed that the relativistic vision of culture and ekotechne stressed in Jean-Luc Nancy’s writings results in the mediation of an image and transformations of a world view. In aesthetics, the spatialization finds its expression in the fragmentation of the image inside the arts and the presence of film image within visual landscape. The discussion that follows focuses on the characterization of spaces of a body and ambiguities that form their representation, and advocates the need for proximity and natural presence in time of the areal spacing of modern world.
