Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Don Ihde facing the Embodied Human-Technology Relation
Abstract
The article focuses on the influence of Maurice Merleau-Ponty on Don Ihde’s postphenomenology, particularly the embodied human-technology relation. Postphenomenology is one of the most prominent contemporary attempts at analyzing the impact of new technologies on human embodiment and perception. The conceptual and methodological links between the theories of Merleau Ponty and Ihde in many places substantiate the latter theory, while proving the lasting relevance of the former.
