Abstract

The author presents the Ciceronian concept Historia magistra vitae est in relation to the model of historiography, an axiological category and a meta-historical topos. The supposition of such an approach is the Enlightenment postulate, which conveys the idea of history as a teacher in its previous and contemporary interpretations; the latter are given contextual analysis.
