The Essence of Western European Political Traditionalism

Adam Wielomski

Abstract

The topic of these article is the problem of the essence of traditionalism. The author does not agree with the popular thesis that traditionalism is an unconscious and instinctive conservatism (it’s the thesis of K. Mannheim). He also does not accept the view that traditionalism is defined as the right, the most radical wing of conservatism. The author proves that his essence is the ‘real order’, or higher order, which traditionalists oppose to the disorder of the revolution. This ‘real order’ is seen as the thought of God, the necessary archetype for the political world.
