Postcommunist Memory and Nostalgia. Example of Mass Medical Tourism in the Post-War Ukraine
Abstract
The article concerns the post-war history of spa towns in the Lviv Region of Ukraine, and the attitude of residents of the spas towards the heritage of the USSR. The author focuses on the nostalgia of the inhabitants of spa towns associated with memories of the standards of the Soviet culture of spa. The article is based on reflections drawn from the ethnographical research conducted in selected small Ukrainian health resorts, which have a centuries-old history connected with the use of medicinal wells.
