The Work and the (Im)Possiblity of Death
Abstract
The paper presents the ontological concept of the work (œuvre) and the subjectivity developed by Marice Blanchot in his book entitled The space of literature . The main purpose of the article is to show that the subjectivity can be characterized as simultaneity of two moments. The former is described as the moment of the constitutive autonomy, and the latter as the moment of the constituted autonomy. The subjectivity described through this two moments is the individual alienated both from the space of community and the space of the work. This doubled alienation is at the same time the condition of possibility and impossibility of autonomous subject.
