Słowo o Bolesławie Jerzym II Trojdenowiczu (1310–1340) — ostatnim Romanowiczu na tronie halicko-włodzimierskim

Abstrakt

The article is devoted to the last Romanovich on the Galicia-Volhynia throne — Boleslaw-Yuri II of Masovia. It was a very important figure in the history of the 14th century Central-Eastern Europe. Boleslaw-Yuri II of Masovia took over the power of the Principality of Galicia-Volhynia thanks to the support of Wladyslaw the Short who was related to him. His family affinities caused him to be a compromising thus ideal candidate for the throne. The person of BoleslawYuri II strengthened the claims to The Principality of Galicia-Volhynia of all three countries concerned: Poland, Lithuania and Hungary. It prevented the conflict for several years. The Russian boyars were responsible for his untimely death in 1340. This event ended the independence period of the principality and started an over 50-year-long dispute over the Principality of Galicia-Volhynia.
