Abstrakt

Lack of reflection on the human condition and the search for meaning in modern literature can be complement by books of Jan Józef Szczepański. One can choose any of his books, whether it’s essays, reports, notes intimate to find the questions (and attempts to find answers to them) regarding the meaning of life, work, the problem of faith, but in the context of being a writer and honest man. Currently, in the process of publishing next volumes of his journals, the mystery of everyday reflections is unveiled the space of several dozen years. One can risk a statement that the Krakow writer had in himself the philosopher’s principle, seeking a stoic who has a distance, but at the same time is far from cynicism. Transience, human self-agency or personal purpose and meaning existence are topics that appear in the writer’s broadly understood work. Szczepanski showed that no matter what circumstances it is, whether it is a time of regular war, guerilla, the defilements of rightly past times or free Poland, one should be focused, attentive to what we are offered. He will stay in harmony with himself as a human being and as a writer he was for Krakow writer’s overarching goal. He carried it through deep reflection and a severe judgment.
