Kobiety w nauce. Akademicki awans polskich historyczek wczoraj i dziś

Jolanta Kolbuszewska

Abstrakt

The starting point of this study is the counting of women — and men — historians who have academic titles. Based on the data stored in the base OPI Study of Poland, (Men of science, access April/may 2015) the author presents the number of women professors, doctors of sciences and candidates of sciences. Besides the assessing of the number of women and men in Polish current historical Sciences, I look back at the ratios between the sexes of employees in the University Institutes of History also. It has been checked how strong is women`s influence on the authorities of faculties, institutes, heads of departments. The author also traces down the path of the Polish women historians to scientific independence since the late nineteenth century to the second world war. The author concludes her reflections considering how much (if anyhow) after one hundred years the number of women in Polish historiography has increased. The calculation results are not very optimistic for women. The disproportion in the number of women and men persist. The higher the degree of the scientific careers, the fewer women obtain it.
